On the 4th
February, grades3-6 attended the Kiama Leisure Centre for our school
swimming carnival. It was a heated in door 25metre pool, which meant
it didnÄôt matter what the weather was like outside.
Two buses were used
to transport both teachers and students to & from the swimming
carnival. Travel time was about 30 minutes each way. Everyone got
to sit next to who they wanted to, Blake and I sat together.
On arrival at the pool
we were put into our house groups, then Mr Goodwin announced anyone
who needed to get changed to please do so. If anyone wanted a warm
up swim they were also allowed
After our warm up swim
Mr Goodwin called up the first race, the open 100metre freestyle swim.
After that all the age races began. The first race I competed in was
the 50metre freestyle which I came first. I then competed in both
the 50metre breaststroke & backstroke which I came second in each
race.
Mr Goodwin called on
all the house groups one at a time to buy what they wanted from the
canteen, and then we had lunch. The children who did not compete or
went in only one race were also allowed to have a free swim.
After this we continued the afternoon
races, butterfly and the relay. Everone was then allowed another free
swim before changing to go back to school. We were also to buy something
from the canteen before leaving the pool. The bus took a little while
so we had to wait. Before we knew it we were on the way back to school.
I had an very enjoyable day. It was great!
